This project is intended to provide a Public access defibrillator in gozo – Victoria St Georges Square. According to the MTA, it is estimated that over 1 million tourists visit Victoria each year, being the most visited place in Gozo .
The project will seek the creation an AED station in Victoria, that will be accessible to the general public. This could be a life saver in case of sudden cardiac arrest, in which every minutes counts. Numerous scientific studies conducted during the past two decades have proven that rapid defibrillation is the single most important factor affecting survival from Sudden Cardiac Arrest in adults. This research, coupled with important technological advances, has driven an international movement to increase access to early defibrillation.
The main outputs of the project are:
• Purchase of AED and ancillary equipment
• Training of volunteers coming from the business community in Victoria / government workers
